“I moved into Unite for my first year and ended up staying for a second year because I had such a good experience. I’ve met some great friends thanks to how they run things, and the facilities are really nice. It’s also peaceful, and you still get plenty of time to yourself.”

“I was really disappointed with how they grouped us. I’m in a flat with just one other first year, and it feels like I’m stuck in a situation where it’s hard to actually meet people. I honestly think I would have made more friends if I’d been placed with more first years. Instead, I’m mostly surrounded by third years, so I haven’t had the chance to experience what it’s like to meet people my own year.”

“The cleanliness is a big issue. Please stop mold from forming in the showers, and consider changing the countertops because it’s really hard to tell whether they’re actually clean or not.”

“The double bed is okay, but the dimensions could be better, especially for someone tall. As for the heating, I get that it’s meant to be more environmentally friendly, but even with the heating turned on, our rooms can get really, really cold.”

“Not having enough chairs for everyone in the flat”

“There’s no vent in the ensuite bathroom, and the windows don’t open nearly as much as they do in other places. Because I have sensory issues, it gets really overstimulating after a shower. The room stays humid and there’s not enough fresh air for me to get away from it, and once that moisture is trapped in the bathroom it puts me off using it for quite a while after showering. On hot days, the lack of fresh air makes the room genuinely uncomfortable, like there’s zero air circulation.”

“The room is really lovely, and the bed is really comfortable. There are also loads of cupboards, which is great. The only thing is the bathroom, it could use a bit more shelving inside. As for the kitchen, there’s plenty of space.”

“I like having a TV in the kitchen area.”

“I wish there was more storage in the bedroom. The under-bed storage is kind of annoying to use.”

“I’d really like to see the internet work more consistently, better soundproofing in the doors, and an improved system for packages and mail.”
