“I understand the fire alarm system is there for safety, but sometimes it goes off even if there is just a tiny bit of warm steam, even though the extraction fans are always running when we cook. It genuinely scares me every time it happens, and honestly, it’s not like we can control that. You can’t expect there to be no hot vapour when you’re cooking, so it feels like we’re set up to lose either way. When the staff have to come and switch it off, they usually seem annoyed, and they end up blaming us like, “Of course there’s steam, you were cooking.” Then we end up feeling awful, embarrassed, and it ruins the rest of our night.”
“There were only a couple of maintenance problems. The hallway lights stay on all the time and you can’t turn them off.”
