“The WiFi is definitely the issue. It only works sometimes, and that really messes with how well I can study and how comfortable my everyday living is. Cleanliness is another thing I’m concerned about. We’ve seen mice in the pantry off and on, and just a few days ago we even found a dead one. I really hope this gets fixed soon.”

“I think it would be better to make the whole system more accessible for people with disabilities. I’d also replace everyone in ResLife and bring in new staff who have experience working with people with disabilities and students who have multiple needs. The problems on campus are really advanced, and ResLife seems to be focused on “average” students instead, which is causing serious harm.”

“Honestly, I feel like what I’m paying for my place is way too much. Before I moved to Edinburgh, I was in Seattle, Washington, and my part of the rent for a really decent one-bedroom apartment I shared with one other person was just a bit higher than what I’m paying now. Now I’m in a pretty average setup that I share with five other people. I get that there are extra costs that aren’t always obvious, but I’ve been renting on my own for ten years, so I know what feels fair and what doesn’t. I’m just not convinced Deaconess is priced reasonably. The only reason I went with Student Accommodation instead of looking for an independent flat is because I handled everything from overseas, and I didn’t want to risk getting scammed.”
