“Nice place to stay, and the staff were really helpful. The only downside is a little bit of light getting into the room, but honestly that’s about it.”
“Put some padding on the door. When the doors shut, they slam and you get this really loud, huge bang, and it’s honestly pretty irritating.”
“Get rid of the noise in the apartment!”
“Maybe it would be good to get a hand sorting out the cleaning schedule, or have an extra cleaner, even if I have to pay more for it. Cheaper rent would be a nice bonus, but it’s not something I’m too worried about. Also, a lift would really help, since I think climbing five flights of stairs is pretty brutal, especially with a sprained ankle!”
“The rent is way too high for what we’re actually getting.”
“The place isn’t terrible, honestly. But it’s just way too expensive for what you actually get.”
“Overall, the place is okay, but it definitely isn’t great. Honestly, it feels way overpriced for what you actually get. The front desk staff do seem to genuinely care, and maintenance handles requests pretty fast, but none of that makes up for the fact that the accommodation itself doesn’t justify the price. The rooms are freezing all the time, especially the bathroom and the hallways. The wifi only works about half the time. Laundry is priced at a level that feels almost unfair. The so-called “study rooms” are dark and gloomy, so they’re not helpful if you’re trying to get work done. And there aren’t any extra perks worth paying for, like a gym or a pool, or anything similar.”
“The flat maintenance is more responsive than before, but a few problems still haven’t been sorted out even though we’ve reported them multiple times over several weeks.”
“It shouldn’t cost so much. I’ve been paying for shared bathrooms and no living room, and it feels higher than what I paid before for an ensuite that came with a living room.”
“I feel like the rent payment options for students who aren’t part of the University of Edinburgh should be changed, because it doesn’t seem fair. As a Napier student, I end up paying 6 times £1353 plus 1 time £902, and that is apparently the “cheapest” plan.”
