“In my accommodation, the windows are basically like paper, so you can hear everything happening out on the streets. It makes it really difficult to settle down, especially if I’ve got uni the next day, an exam, or if I’m trying to study. You hear cars, people shouting, and people talking, and it’s constant. In the morning it’s even worse because the cleaners are out doing the street cleaning, and it gets so loud. I’m on the third floor, and I honestly can’t imagine what it’s like for the people on the bottom floor. It’s extremely loud, and it’s frustrating not just for me, but for everyone in the building, I think. Another issue is the flies. Like I mentioned before, we’re genuinely really clean people. We take the bins out, we clean the services, we mop, we Hoover, and our flat stays spotless, yet we still keep getting fruit flies. It’s disgusting. We’ve had a few different people come out from the team to look into it, but when we ask for pest control to come, they always refuse. We just want them to actually get to the bottom of it, because they never seem to. Thankfully they’re starting to die down now, but they’re still there. This has been going on since we moved in, around October, and it’s now March, so you can imagine how frustrating it’s been for all of us. That’s really everything. The location is great though. It’s about a five minute walk into town, which is perfect for me because I work in town. I can sleep for around 15 minutes before my shift and still get there early. The Wi-Fi is also amazing, so I can’t really complain about that. It’s just that there are a lot of problems in the building that need fixing, and the windows are a big one. They’re just terrible.”
