“Honestly, everything feels completely spot on.”

“The sofas in the kitchen are basically falling apart. I had to tape them up because they’re fully split and pinch you if you sit on them. The same kind of thing happened with the dishwasher. When we reported it as broken, the team told us it would have to be thrown out, so I ended up fixing it a couple of times too. In both cases we were told other flats don’t have these items, so we couldn’t get them replaced. That’s why I don’t understand why the example flats are shown with these basic features if they’re not actually part of what you get. There’s also a damp, moldy wall in there, and we had to cover it with a tapestry. The carpets are ruined as well. The previous tenants seemed to have burned them with pans and ovens, so I had to buy a rug to cover the damage. Other than that, and the fact the place is generally quite dated, the kitchens are a really good size and they’re nice to hang out in, as long as you bring your own coffee table and TV stand. The rooms themselves are in much better condition. They’re the right size, there’s plenty of desk space, the carpets are fine, and the bathrooms are really nice. The main downsides are the taps, which make a lot of noise when you turn them on, the windows, which don’t close properly so the heating has to stay on more, and the chairs, which are uncomfortable. I brought my own to replace them. I’ve been here for three years, and honestly it really feels like the site staff genuinely care about the problems and do their best. We’ve built up a good rapport over my time here. That said, the funding to bring the place up to the standard shown in the show flat and mentioned in the brochures just isn’t there.”
