There’s a lot of favouritism when it comes to opportunities at the college. The same group of people always seems to get picked for trips and similar things, to the point where it almost feels pointless to apply. And it’s not just trips, either, since the same people are regularly invited to other dinners and events too. Everyone seems to know there’s a set group that is consistently contacted and offered these chances. I’m aware this is something a lot of people experience, and it really discourages them.

Because the building is so old, there are often a lot of maintenance issues and interruptions to the facilities. It would be really helpful if these could be handled more quickly, or if there were alternative options offered when problems come up.

Honestly, I feel like it’s good enough for me. College is an amazing place, and the history behind it is really captivating, inspiring, and it gets you thinking. At the same time, I do feel like it comes off as pretty elitist, and very Eurocentric, which I guess is built into how it started. Because of that, it can be hard for people of color, especially Black students. From what I’ve seen, there’s a lack of access and awareness that plays a role, so it’s not only the way the authorities handle things, but there is also limited representation. There are Black people represented here, but I still feel like Black students may have a tougher time adjusting than even some other brown students. Overall, I think the biggest issue for me is that it doesn’t feel as inclusive as it should. Is that fair?

My place was absolutely perfect and it even surpassed my expectations.

Pricing that feels more reasonable and takes account of the rising cost of living in the UK. With inflation climbing so fast, student accommodation prices should be more flexible, so they can stay steady and offer real discounts.

I’ve really found my home away from home in Goodenough, and honestly there’s nothing I can think of that needs improving. It’s outstanding across the board!
