“The accommodation company is not very honest, and it feels like they do not really care about what people are going through. For instance, I could not pay my rent on the day because they set the deadline before my student loans came in. When I explained this to them, I raised it again and again, but I kept getting the same copied and pasted reply telling me to speak to my guarantor, like that was supposed to fix the problem. On top of that, they kept telling us the WiFi was fine and that it would be upgraded. When they actually tried to upgrade it, the WiFi got worse for almost everyone. About 90% of the student halls were without WiFi for around three months, and there was barely any action to sort it out. Eventually, a member of the Glide staff came by, and there was at least a chance to talk about what we were dealing with. Hundreds of students turned up, understandably furious, and they were all bombarding one Glide staff member with internet issues. It really shows how out of touch Derwent is, because they sent a single staff member to handle complaints from potentially hundreds of students.”
