“To be completely honest, I really do love my flat at 54 South Bridge. That said, I can’t rate this any higher because of what happened with the sewage pipe incident on 26/09/23. As a result, I was moved out and put into an extremely poor room at King’s Stables, and I received absolutely no compensation for being displaced for three full weeks. The whole situation has seriously affected my stress levels, both personally and academically. During that time, the staff were not good at communicating. I wasn’t given clear updates, and I felt like I was left in the dark the entire way through. I did speak with the manager, and we’ve worked through some of the communication issues, so I’m not blaming them as much anymore. My real frustration is with Hello Student as a company. They do not compensate tenants fairly when something disruptive like this happens. I understand the manager can’t issue a rent credit or refund, but the company should be able to properly apologize and offer compensation that actually matches what tenants went through. It feels especially insulting because they clearly have the resources, including a big marketing budget, since they can hand out vouchers worth hundreds of pounds. Yet they can’t fairly compensate someone like me, who has paid £18,156 upfront in rent, for a genuinely catastrophic event. It’s honestly disgusting. I’ve filled out this survey because I’m hoping to receive the fair compensation I’m owed. If I win, the survey payout is £500, but more importantly, I want the company to take this seriously. I understand marketing matters, but keeping tenants who have already paid you £18,156 should matter even more. Your treatment of people will directly impact ratings and your reputation, so please get your priorities in order. Sincerely, an incredibly disappointed tenant.”

“The central heating feels really weak. The radiators are set to around 20 to 22 degrees, but where they’re positioned means the main part of the room stays much colder until the heat finally kicks in.”
