“I want to make the noise cancellation better since my room looks out onto the street.”
“Bigger kitchen. The bathrooms are cleaner, more updated, and better laid out. The lounge area is also better.”
“I needed more room for kitchen storage. Also, the TV license is included in the rent.”
“The kitchen doesn’t really have much room.”
“The price feels way too steep for what you actually get, especially when you consider what students can realistically afford.”
“I’d like to recommend that the accommodation includes bathroom and shared area cleaning. If there’s a free cleaning service each week, that would be really helpful for us, since we have a lot of academic work to take care of and it would reduce our burden.”
“It should be cheaper, and the WiFi needs to be more dependable. It would be great to have an Ethernet cable available in the living room too, especially for when someone really needs a stable connection, like during a test or an interview.”
“Right now I’m a little reluctant to get parcels or letters delivered to my flat. The main reason is that when my flatmates have had deliveries, the parcels have ended up in other flats across Canal Bridge. They swear they used the right address format that the Accommodation team gave them. If there was an option to deliver parcels and mail to a reception area, even if it was the reception for a different accommodation, that would be really helpful. Ideally I could collect my items from there. At the moment we do have Amazon Lockers in the Co-op next door, and I use those, but they only work for Amazon deliveries. Another reason I’m hesitant is that before I arrived at Canal Bridge, the university asked me to provide a term-time address for my Student ID to be sent to because of Covid restrictions. I gave them the address exactly as the Accommodation team recommended, something like “Flat X, Room x.xx, Canal Bridge, ...”. Despite that, my mail was sent to Flat 1. I only found out because someone in Flat 1 spotted me in the MS Teams Canal Bridge accommodation group and messaged me, and I also ended up picking up a flatmate’s Student ID from Flat 1. It turned out the university had used an address I never provided, “Canal Bridge CNBx.xx, 1 Canal Bridge, ...” (with x.xx matching my flat and room number). That also seems to match what’s shown on Google Maps and what’s listed on this survey. I emailed the university to point out the correct address, hoping it would help them get things to the right place for other students too, but instead they changed my term-time address to the format they were using. I switched my term-time address back to the format the Accommodation team recommended, but the university keeps changing it back again. It feels like the official Canal Bridge address includes “1 Canal Bridge”, and that might be why Flat 1 receives so much mail meant for other flats. I think it would make things easier if the official address for Canal Bridge clearly reflected that there are multiple flats, possibly with different entrances, or if it was worded in a clearer way. Consistency across the university would also help. From my experience, the address format the Accommodation team gave me is much clearer.”
“We’re cramming the apartment with more people. It’s just the two of us!”
