“We need more recycling and more community events.”
“I’d like to see more events at the student union bar that don’t revolve around drinking or joining a society.”
“The price is the main thing. St. Georges is one of the more affordable places, but I still can’t manage to use my student loan for anything except the accommodation. Even then, my loan doesn’t cover the full cost, so I have to work alongside studying just to afford it all. Being a full-time third year student, that really drains my time and energy. On top of that, the heating is set way too high. The radiator stays on at the maximum setting all year. Just the other week it was around 25 degrees outside, yet the radiator was still blasting. It makes the place unbearably hot, and it also means food goes off faster, which makes everything even more expensive. It feels like they keep the heating running at full blast year round so they can rack up higher bills, and then charge students more.”
“The screening process feels way too harsh when they just lump random people together. It’s not fair that the residents who do everything right end up paying the price for what other tenants are doing. And it’s frustrating that the accommodation team just doubles down and refuses to help, because they keep saying it’s “a problem between flatmates.””
“The building is kept up better, and the security is strong.”
“A convenient elevator for students on the upper floors, especially when they have a ton of luggage.”
“The air quality was really bad. I’d wake up feeling dizzy and like I was about to faint most days.”
“Fast help with maintenance problems: no hot water, the sink leaks, and the hob and oven aren't working.”
“I really like being able to live in a nice, comfortable place without feeling on edge around the people I live with. I can talk to my flatmates when they need to clean up instead of it turning into a problem. And I’ve also seen other flatmates learn to be more respectful, like not going into someone else’s space and messing things up.”
“The place has newer appliances, and the rooms are set up with wired internet.”
