“I got a lower rent, but only because compared with other places that cost the same, our flat just isn’t good value. The rooms are roughly half the size of what you get elsewhere, and the kitchen table can’t seat everyone in the flat at the same time. The bathroom is also smaller than you’d expect, and the shower pods are so tight that they’re not really comfortable. I can live with these issues, but I do think the rent should be cut a lot more. It doesn’t feel fair that I and my flatmates are paying the same amount as other tenants who have much better accommodation.”
