Brook Hall has honestly felt like a comforting home away from home for me. The staff are genuinely kind and welcoming, and they always help when you ask. Everyone seems really friendly. The surrounding area is also nice, though I do think traveling in and out can push up the cost of living. The rooms are a good size and the decor looks really well done. There are plenty of shops close by too, with a Lidl just a short walk away and Tesco a bit further up the road. Overall, I’ve had a very good experience here, and I would recommend this accommodation. That said, I still think the prices could be a bit lower. I’d give Brook Hall about 4 stars.

I really enjoyed staying here. The deal you get for having an en-suite and your own bedroom is excellent, and the wifi is super fast, which makes it great for both work and gaming. On top of that, all the bills are included, so it feels even better. The parcel and post service is also really straightforward. You get an email when your delivery arrives, and you can pick it up at whatever time suits you. The only downside is that the city centre is a bit of a trek on foot, but there’s a bus stop right outside the place and it takes you straight into the city.

It’s probably just the distance, but that’s not something Brook Hall can really control. It’s quite far from the uni, and I honestly wish it was closer.

The bedrooms could be a lot better, especially considering the price of the accommodation.

Please deal with the silverfish. We had pest control come out and they set traps, but we didn’t really hear anything after that. It feels like silverfish are common in most of the flats, yet there isn’t much that actually helps fix the problem. Also, the bins need to be kept cleaner and more organized to help prevent rats. Finally, it would be great to have a proper study area or a shared common room so there’s a better place to socialize.

The rooms are designed to look modern.

More shared spaces like a games room and similar areas.

There isn’t really a shared area next to the courtyard. It would help a lot if they added a spot with some seating and a pool table.

I really wish they would cut down on all the unnecessary maintenance visits. All year long, there have been message after message about contractors and maintenance staff needing “full access” to students’ bathrooms and bedrooms so they can upgrade or inspect things. It’s incredibly disruptive to day to day living. More recently, I got a notice about someone coming into the students’ private rooms to judge how clean things are while the students are actually living there, not just checking the state of the room for the next tenant. That feels intrusive and honestly not acceptable. On top of that, the scheduled times are usually huge windows, like weeks or even months, and when people do show up, it often has nothing to do with the time they said they would come. This kind of unpredictable planning just does not work for student life, or for anyone’s life.

Maybe the fobs last longer before they need to be reactivated.
