“Better bicycle storage is badly needed. Right now the bike area is just too small and it gets packed all the time. That means a lot of people don’t end up cycling because they have nowhere to leave their bike in a way that feels secure and safe. When the racks are overcrowded, taking a bike out can be risky too, since it can lead to accidents, injuries, or damage to other bikes. On top of that, the space is poorly lit at night, so parking your bike is even more difficult, assuming there’s room. With more people turning to cycling after covid, and with support from both environmental and government initiatives, the number of cyclists is only going to grow fast as more Dutch style cycling infrastructure gets added. These problems will get even worse unless we create additional bicycle parking spaces.”
