“Austen House really stands out for its extra facilities, like the cinema room, the music room, and the gaming room. The cinema space especially holds a lot of my favorite university memories, since it was where I spent time with friends and hosted plenty of girls nights. The staff and the other students living there are all really friendly, too. The rooms are a good size, and it is in a great spot, not too far from West Quay, with loads of places to eat and easy access to Southampton nightlife.”

“I can’t really recommend it since the quality feels pretty poor. My bed is way too soft, so it makes me think it might already be worn out. I just hope it holds up better. What I mean is, I’d like it to be firmer, not so squishy.”

“When I tried to book for next year, I think it would be better to let people who are already staying in the rooms confirm first, before opening up bookings to everyone else.”

“The bedroom and the ensuite bathroom are brilliant for the price. The place feels roomy, it’s spotless, and it has everything you need. The kitchen is decent as well, but it really depends on having tidy flatmates, so you have to get lucky there. Location-wise it’s amazing. You’re really close to shops and places to relax, and public transport is nearby too. The main downside is maintenance. They take a long time to get things sorted, and they often forget tasks they’re supposed to do. On top of that, there are way too many maintenance check-ins during the year, and they sometimes come into your room at random times in the day, even though you are told, which is still a pain. They are also really loud in the mornings, and it wakes you up. Overall it’s a good place to stay, but it could be so much better if they improved those things.”
