“At first I wasn’t sure, but once I moved in I was really impressed. The building itself, the staff, and the flat are all really well set up. There are plenty of shared spaces, and the team is genuinely helpful if you have questions. They’re easy to spot at reception, and the flats are comfortable too. If anything needs fixing or checking, you can request technical support and they get back to you quickly. The place is usually clean, but it really depends on your flatmates and how well you can coordinate with each other. The only thing I could wish for is a bit more space for our things, or appliances that are slightly larger, but overall it’s fine. I also like how secure the building feels. It can be a little annoying having to tap the key in so many times, but it’s reassuring at the same time. It would be just as frustrating for anyone else, and that makes it harder for them to access your space. Plus, the location is excellent. Everything is within a short walk, no more than about 15 minutes, and there are lots of shops and places to eat. All in all, I’m really happy with my experience here.”

“If I had to change anything, I’d say it’s the condition of the gardens. I think they could use a bit more attention, especially the flowering area. More upkeep, more watering, and just making sure everything looks nice and visually appealing whenever I visit.”

“If you’re trying to choose accommodation for Newcastle University, Newgate Court is honestly the one. I’m just wrapping up my first year and I’m so happy I picked this place. If you end up here, you’ve really hit the jackpot, especially for the location. Here’s my quick pros and cons list: **Pros:** - The location is unreal. You’re really close to the train station, the town with all the shops, and the nightclubs. The best thing about this accommodation is how easy everything is to get to. It’s about a 20 minute walk to Newcastle Uni. - Laundry prices were pretty fair. It’s £3.50 for a standard wash and £2.10 for an hour dry. - The staff are really friendly, and if anything goes wrong with maintenance, they deal with it quickly. - The kitchens are spacious. **Cons:** - The top ovens can be really annoying. Once they get to a certain temperature, they switch off, and you have to wait for them to cool down before they work again. - The kitchen bins are way too small. We were a flat of 10 and we ended up buying an extra bin because the ones provided just didn’t cut it. - The fridges are also small, and some shelves are smaller than others, so people had to squeeze their stuff onto other shelves. - My room faced a hotel, so you could see into each other’s rooms. At night, with lights on, it was especially awkward and annoying. - The lifts were broken for months, which was a pain, particularly if you were on one of the top floors carrying food shops. That said, my time here has been brilliant. When it comes to location, you can’t really beat it. If I had to choose again, I would 100% pick Newgate Court.”
