“My room gets hardly any natural light, which honestly makes winter feel really gloomy. The window is quite small and it doesn’t open much, so when it gets hot there isn’t much airflow, and I end up needing a fan. That said, the room itself is nice and pretty well set up. I just think it would be better with an extra socket near the bed. Opening the window is also pretty noisy, and there is a vent too. The door is the one that connects all the rooms, so when my Asian exchange student flatmates are gaming around 2am, I can hear them shouting, which is really annoying. In the kitchen, there’s barely any storage for appliances, and it’s quite cramped. When my flatmates have people over, there is literally not enough space in the kitchen for me to cook. I would recommend the accommodation, but only if it were cheaper.”

“I really like living here. The atmosphere feels warm and welcoming, and everyone seems friendly. The staff genuinely care about residents and their wellbeing. The rooms are spacious and there’s plenty of storage space. The kitchens are also nice, with good cupboard space. When we moved in, both the kitchens and the bedrooms were clean. It’s also easy to access the building. I would recommend this accommodation to everyone, especially if you want to be close to the city centre and the bus station so it’s simple to commute to all UWE buildings. 8/10 stars”

“Why would I want scaffolding everywhere while it’s being built, and also tinted film on the windows that blocks out all that light? What do you think?”

“The rent feels way too high compared to what I’m actually getting.”

“The walls are fine, and the shower works, but it would be a lot better if the shower head could be taken off instead of being fixed in place.”

“It’s not a huge problem, but I do wish a few of the kitchen appliances came with clearer instructions. A lot of the people I’ve spoken to say they’ve had trouble figuring out how to use them. Since they work differently than what most people are used to, it can be pretty confusing.”

“They also supplied plenty of cleaning products and other home essentials.”

“I’d like to see better security at the accommodation, since some of the entry points are sometimes left unlocked, so anyone can walk in without a FOB. I also think staff should respond a bit faster when maintenance requests are submitted. On top of that, it would be great to see the rooms and kitchens brought up to a nicer standard, so the whole place feels more comfortable and welcoming.”

“They updated the studio areas so everything looks and feels a lot better, and they also improved access to the balcony.”
