“I get the feeling that a lot of the events and the signage around the building are aimed mainly at Chinese students, and everyone else is basically overlooked. That can feel really isolating, and it creates a pretty poor sense of community for anyone who is not Chinese or who doesn't already know the culture.”

“There aren’t many social areas in the building. We do have a shared lounge, but it’s pretty small, and there’s also an outdoor space, which is honestly never used. When I compare it to other student places in Bristol, the facilities feel lacking, since there’s no proper study room, gym studio, or anything like that.”

“Is there a better material for insulating the floor? I’m trying to make it a bit more soundproof, so my upstairs neighbor’s footsteps don’t carry through.”

“The ventilation is better. I do have a small window at one end of my room, but it only opens a little, so it’s hard to get fresh air circulating around the space. Also, since there’s no AC, it’s tough to keep the room at a comfortable temperature, especially when I’m cooking.”

“The maintenance team was easy to communicate with. The timing and kinds of events were good too, and nothing about the events they already set up was a problem. I just think it would be even better if they added a few more events on top of that.”

“I’m not sure I’d want the heater right next to my study desk. If I switch it on, it’ll probably get way too hot for me to sit there and study for a long time. But if I leave it off, then the whole room feels too cold.”

“I really like that there are more little social food and snack get-togethers.”

“All in all, I’m really happy with where I’m staying right now, so I wouldn’t want to change a thing.”
